Jade Mountain is a cornucopia of organic architecture celebrating St Lucia’s stunning scenic beauty. The 29 luxury suites are called sanctuaries, sweeping spaces where bedroom, living area and an extravagant private infinity pool glide into one another to form extraordinary platforms floating out into nature
What sets it apart and why do people fall in love with the hotel?
There are so many reasons why the hotel is unique and why people fall in love with it. It starts with the magnificent landscape and scenery of our famous Piton Mountains, then there is the outstanding service provided by our 500+ team members, amazing culinary experiences, together with chocolate making classes and now even micro beer tastings, and last, but not least, the unique architectural design with the open wall to the view and en-suite extravagant private infinity pool.
Like LOVE BRAND & Co., Jade Mountain was created with a deep connection to the environment in mind, how does this manifest itself?
When my husband Nick designed and created Jade Mountain, there was of course first of all the intent to only tread lightly on our vulnerable earth and keep the footprint very small.
The appreciation of nature is core to both brands, what does it mean to you and why is it so important?
Building in harmony with nature, celebrating and respecting nature is at the core of everything we do.
Having a brand with a greater purpose is so important now, why do you believe that luxury should have a greater responsibility?
We think that any brand and every individual on earth should have a responsibility towards ensuring the future of our planet.
Tell us about the secret to running a successful hotel.
Attention to detail and a hands-on approach and above all, nurturing the amazing talent of our team members.
What is your definition of sustainable travel and being environmentally aware?
We need to understand sustainable travel both from the eyes of the travellers and the tour operator – it started with goals to operate in a greener fashion and support and promote the local cultures economies. In recent years we understand the importance of mitigating the effects of climate change in every way possible and reducing food waste and plastic usage. From the traveller’s perspective, there certainly is a much more knowledgeable future guest out there that critically assesses the destination and chosen resort to ensure that they are following sustainable principles.
What do you see as the future of travel?
The new buzzword is Regenerative Travel which goes beyond the protection of the environment but also seeks to repair and replenish any damage that may have been done have done to the environment and surrounding communities. This also entails creating a new generation of even more responsible tourism operators and travellers, to protect the planet and people.
What do you see as positive outcomes of this difficult period for travel?
A heightened awareness that it cannot be business as usual, an understanding that it will never be business as usual again and a deeper sense of what needs to be done to create a responsible tourism environment allowing for a more inclusive approach and prosperity coming from touristic activity.
Hidden secret about the hotel or something not many know about?
Our farm Emerald is an amazing place to visit. There is so much going on, from our cocoa production to a healing herbs garden and microbrewery…
